In the spring of 2008 Apartment Therapy, San Francisco invited me to do a "Home Tour" of my vacation home in Carmel by the Sea, California.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive that I created a Home Tour Page on Hygge House to showcase all my other homes including my current flat in Santa Monica, CA.
Despite all the talk about simplicity there are things that I still wish for. Some are simple and useful and some are just pure lust. But lists are good to have and share and you can see my lists at both Anthropologie (for pretty things & home), Amazon (for books & gadgets) and Wists for everything else on the web.

The Danish word Hygge (hu-gah) is a feeling or mood that comes from taking genuine pleasure in making ordinary everyday things simply extraordinary. It's about owning things you only truly love or that inspire, being present in yourself and your life, putting effort into your home without being Martha Stewart or buying a bed in a bag. Words like cosiness, security, familiarity, comfort, reassurance, fellowship, simpleness and living well are often used to describe the idea of Hygge.
